VOLUNTARY SERVICE

"In my final year at Plymouth University, I applied and was accepted for EVS (European Voluntary Service); a scheme for European youth aged 18-26 which offers the possibilty to work in Europe in a variety of fields, financially supported by the European Union.  I was offered a place at Art Center, Slovenia to live and work for one year.  The work of Art Center is based in a rural, undeveloped area of Slovenia, focusing on Art, Culture and Development.  It is the first residential Art Center in the country, organising events, exhibitions and workshops on a local and international scale.  My work in Art Center covers many areas- from using and developing my own skills; my first job was to reupholster the furniture at Art Center. I am also learning valuable new skills- website maintenance, project applications, video editing, and artistic workshops, as well as contibuting to the general upkeep of the house (cleaning, cooking and cat-feeding!)"

For more information about the work of Art Center in general, visit the webpage found in the 'links' section, or follow the link above.

THE FUTURE!
On my return to the UK, I am planning to establish This Way Up as a functioning business...details of when and where and how are still to be decided!
